Nobody Knows This Little Rose

English Rose by David Austin Roses. Nikpn D810, 105 mm (105.0 mm ƒ/2.8) 1/500 ƒ/3 ISO 64

By Emily Dickinson

Nobody knows this little Rose—
It might a pilgrim be
Did I not take it from the ways
And lift it up to thee.
Only a Bee will miss it—
Only a Butterfly,
Hastening from far journey—
On its breast to lie—
Only a Bird will wonder—
Only a Breeze will sigh—
Ah Little Rose—how easy
For such as thee to die!
(Emily Dickinson)

Nessuno conosce questa piccola Rosa,
Potrebbe essere un pellegrino
Se non l’avessi presa dai viottoli
e raccolta per te.
Solo un’Ape sentirà la sua mancanza –
Solo una Farfalla,
Affrettandosi da lontano –
per riposare nel suo seno –
Solo un Uccello si meraviglierà –
Solo una Brezza emetterà sospiro –
Ah Piccola Rosa – come è facile
per chi è come te, morire.
(Emily Dickinson)
