The Oaks Challenge

An “oak” is a female thoroughbred horse of about tree years, too young to be called a “mare”. The word comes from the younger leaves of an oak, a shrub belonging to the oak, sometimes to be modeled in the shape of a chaplet.

Una “oak” è una cavalla di razza di circa tre anni, troppo giovane per poter essere chiamata “giumenta”. Il termine viene da “oak”, quescia, ma anche i germogli di quercia che possono venire usati per confezionare una ghirlanda.
